Fans of Tribes, that is touted because the "world's fastest shooter," can download the PC versions ofEarthsiege, Earthsiege 2, Starsiege, Starsiege: Tribes, Tribes 2 and Tribes Vengeance as freeware in the series' website. Surprisingly, fans may even download the PlayStation 2exclusive Tribes: Aerial Assault being an ISO, if you wish to play that game within an emulator. 2012's Tribes Ascend was already a totally freetoplay title.
While the revelation the entire Tribes series was now liberated to download made the rounds onReddit along with other sites now, HiRez president Stew Chisam said the games happen to be available free of charge for months now.
"Believe it or otherwise, the website continues to be live in the current state since July," Chisam said within an email to Polygon. "We believed that it would be a fun easter egg that diehard fans from the franchise would appreciate when they ever happened to stumble across it. We also just saw it as being a fun use from the TribesUniverse URL, which we now have owned since we took over custody from the Tribes IP this year.
"We're very humbled to become the custodians and guardians from the TribesStarsiege IP, and much more than anything, we're simply huge fans. Our predecessors at previous studios made a rich universe as well as an amazing group of games. We are proud to become associated by using it."
HiRez is currently focusing on competitive action games Smite for Windows PC and Xbox One and Paladins, which enters closed beta on Nov. 17.
